Wind as context - Wilderness Art Conference 2012 organised by Hai Art
Emerging cultural association Hai Art, based on Hailuoto island in the Gulf of Bothnia, northern Finland, organises the Wind as context - Wilderness Art Conference, from 24th to 26th May.

The event is an international research conference for organizations and artists working in remote and rural regions of the EU and furthermore. The conference will explore the question of how contemporary and digital arts can be relevant within those areas and can be beneficial for local communities, visitors and artists alike.

Hai Art is an artist run art platform in Hailuoto, northern Finland, with emphasis on sound, digital media, participatory, ecological and interdisciplinary art forms.



Hai Art engages the local community as well as invites international artists, curators and competence to the remote island. To support this, they also run an artist-residency programme. Hai Art wants to form a vision, how to combine existence with nature and digital technology, manifesting local and global awareness through artistic practice. The cultural association was founded in 2011 by Antye Greie, Sasu Ripatti, and currently also involves Miika Klemettilä and Nella Nikklä.
