Meeting in the Middle at Caisa, 11 May

Are you an artist who wants to cooperate with non-art organizations?

You are welcome to participate in Meeting in the Middle – a professional forum on artistic collaborations with public institutions on Wednesday May 11th 2016 in Cultural Centre Caisa, Helsinki.

The event opens up the discourse on public art beyond artistic circles and encourage cooperation between artists and professionals of other fields.

Participating artists will meet with representatives from public sector with time and space to discuss and brainstorm possibilities for collaborations. These collaborations vary e.g. from planning a community art workshop to presenting a completed artistic work in a waiting room. Together we will discuss projects, listen to each other’s ideas and address the desires of particular audiences and specifics of public places.

After the networking session we will provide participants information of e.g. funding, employment and commissioned work.

Please send an email describing your practice, experience in multidisciplinary collaborations and/or production of site-specific projects to Anastasia Artemeva at anastasia.artemeva(at)aalto.fi before April 1st.

In your email please mention what professionals you would like to meet, and an idea for social research, cross-disciplinary collaboration or a work in a public space. The project should be at the stage of development and open to input from the collaborator. Please consider whether you are seeking a working partner, participants, the use of space, advice from a professional, an access to a community, or some other connection.

Please bear in mind that participant places are limited. Based on the response from this call, we will proceed with the organising of the event, and produce a program taking into consideration everyone’s suggestions.

Our intention is to provide you possibilities to meet professionals from schools, kindergartens, libraries, hospitals, prisons, refuge centres and multicultural centres, Vero tax office and Kela social insurance institution.
