Is with great pride that Pixelache Helsinki is officially welcoming Laura Gustafsson as the co-director of the Pixelache Helsinki 2021 Festival! She will direct the next festival with Pixelache board member Andrew Gryf Paterson.

Laura Gustafsson (1983) is a Finnish author who also works in the fields of theatre, visual arts, and TV. In her books she aims at finding an unforeseen perspective whether the topic be motherhood or the end of the world (as we know it). Her latest novel Rehab raises the questions on how we are to deal with waste, and how do we come to terms with our own materiality. Gustafsson also collaborates with visual artist Terike Haapoja. The award-winning artist duo Gustafsson&Haapoja has realized several exhibitions. Their latest collaboration Museum of Becoming was shown in Helsinki Art Museum HAM in 2020 and is part of the Helsinki Biennial. Utopian Museum of Nonhumanity (2016), a durational video installation analyzing the constructions of ”human” and ”animal”, has toured in Italy, Norway, England, and Taiwan. Currently Gustafsson&Haapoja's earlier work, Museum of the History of Cattle, is exhibited in Kalmar konstmuseum, and their video work Becoming runs in Kyoto at KCUA.

Welcome to the team!
